Revere specifics

Most of what we paint in Revere is beach-side multi-family and two-families. Two- and three-families through the centre, beachfront and near-beach houses and condos along the shore, and postwar single-families inland. Point of Pines, Beachmont and the Revere Beach frontage take salt spray and wind-driven rain directly. Coating life is measurably shorter than a mile inland.

The way we work it

Prep is most of it — wash, patch, sand, prime, then two finish coats. We move and cover furniture and clean up at the end of every day.

Ceilings first, then walls, then trim — working top down so drips land on unfinished surfaces. Cut lines get brushed before the roller comes anywhere near the wall, and we pull tape while the last coat is still slightly open so the film breaks clean instead of tearing.

Where these jobs go wrong

The usual failure is rolling a second coat too soon. The surface skins over while the underside is still wet, and a month later you get burnish marks wherever someone wipes the wall.
