The Right Way to Repair Drywall
Small holes get mesh patches or California patches depending on size. Large holes need backing — wood or metal — then new drywall cut to fit, taped, mudded in layers with proper drying time between coats, sanded smooth, textured to match, and primed. This is not fast work. Rushing dry time between mud coats creates shrinkage cracks that reappear under paint.
Plaster vs. Drywall in Boston Homes
