What Are VOCs?

VOCs (volatile organic compounds) are chemicals that evaporate from paint as it dries. Traditional paints had high VOC content that caused headaches, nausea, and long-term indoor air quality issues. The EPA has documented the health impacts of VOC exposure from household products including paint.

What We Use

All our interior work uses Benjamin Moore Natura (zero-VOC) or Aura Interior (low-VOC) as our primary lines. Sherwin-Williams Harmony is our zero-VOC alternative. Both lines perform as well as or better than traditional high-VOC paints for durability and coverage.

Re-Occupancy Time

Low-VOC and zero-VOC paints dry faster and off-gas less. Most rooms can be re-occupied within a few hours. We still recommend ventilating with open windows for 24 hours when possible — especially in bedrooms and nurseries.
